The willows patio homes now under constructionWith my birthday next week and the recent arrival of my third baby boy, I keep thinking about how launching a new neighborhood in Picacho Mountain can be a little like the birth of a baby. The preparation phase can seem like it’s never going to end, but once you get there it’s well worth the wait.

Here at Picacho Mountain we’ve been planning and preparing for the arrival of our newest neighborhood, the Willows Patio Homes at Picacho Mountain. Many of you have been waiting with us and following our progress for the last few years.

Well, the due date is finally here! We are proud to announce the arrival of the Willows Patio Homes! Now, before you think I am going to start passing cigars around, take a look at this picture.

Construction started in early May and is already well under way. We are now putting the finishing touches on our floorplans.

Go Green: Curbside Recycling Service Improved at Picacho Mountain in Las Cruces, New Mexico

Sustainability through curbside recycling in Las Cruces, NMCurbside recycling service is just one of the many ways that Picacho Mountain Master Planned Community in Las Cruces, New Mexico has demonstrated leadership in sustainability, green development, green building, and green living.

Now, residents at Picacho Mountain can Go Green by taking advantage of improved curb side recycling service!

While New Mexico is becoming a leader in all things green, curbside recycling service has been slow to become available to Las Cruces residents Picacho Mountain has been on the leading edge of Las Cruces communities to offer residents curbside recycling service.

Picacho Mountain is pleased to announce that Mesilla Valley Disposal is now offering our residents 50 gallon mixed-container recycle bins.  Previously recycling had to be separated out into separate bins. However, now all acceptable recycling items can be combine into one single bin, like many other communities around the country.  Additionally, Mesilla Valley Disposal has expanded there recycling service pick-up from once a month, to twice a month for Picacho Mountain residents.

We’ve known for sometime that mixed-container recycling service is essential to encouraging residents to take part in a recycling program.  We are excited to provide this great service and make our community just a little bit greener.

Items ACCEPTED for the new mixed-container recycling service include:

  • Aluminum
  • Tin
  • Newspaper (no glossy inserts)
  • Corrugated cardboard only
  • Plastics that have the recycle symbol on them
  • Styrofoam
  • Office/Copy paper

Items the CANNOT be accepted at this time are:

  • Glass
  • Magazines or glossy paper/inserts
  • Yard Waste
  • No biodegradable items
  • No electronic devices/appliances
